The brand identity of YumBum

Meet the concept

YumBum sells layered, colorful treats for anyone who loves sweet!

Before the magic

The entrepreneurs of YumBum, an extension of parent company ManQal Grab & Grill, previously entered into a Brand & Design process with our designers for the business Bella Di Nonno. They were eager to open another business and capitalize on the sweet trend - so YumBum was all new and ready to become a bold brand. In fact, even for the name, they enlisted our help. Above all, the branding had to radiate softness, "kawaii" (= Japanese cuteness) and the colors of the rainbow and represent the range of products.

How we made them wooow

Package: Complete Fire

First, as much inspiration as possible was gathered and mood boards were created within the given frameworks with shapes of cakes, cupcakes, red velvet, layered cakes and carrot cakes. The choices that came about were based on taste experience: soft colors represented the creamy filling and cake cookie, the fresh colors were taken from the fruit. This created the color palette.

The inspiration for the illustrations came from the collection. In it you can see, among other things, the fruit and layered cake - which is a specialty of YumBum. To arrive at the shape of the font, there was a lot of experimenting with characters, because with the name YumBum you can of course already do a lot. Round shapes ("bum") were chosen with an expression that radiated "yum. The font was created in the same way: a playful, rounded font combined with a light, fresh letter.

About the branding

Characters take center stage, this cake totally brings YumBum to life. Image brand represents the reaction of every sweet tooth that comes in contact with their collection: 'yum!'! In addition, this also consists of layers, just like their cakes. The colors were chosen based on the famous rainbow cake and fruit.
